PPP TO CREATE ANARCHY AT RECOUNT TO FORCE GECOM TO ABORT PROCESS.

PPP executive member Anil Nandlall signaled his party’s strategy of trying to create conditions conducive for Anarchy. Nandlall argument that he desires the scraping of the existing Regional Declarations before new declarations are made is a recipe for anarchy.

At the moment we have a legal path for the formation of a government. On the basis of GECOM’s legal declarations, President Granger could be sworn in for a second term. This path must remain open until a new path is created. To do otherwise would be reckless, and open the door for all sorts of PPP shenanigans.

Yesterday afternoon APNU-AFC GECOM Commissioner, Mr. Vincent Alexander, reiterated to the media that the declarations made by the 10 Returning Officers are legal until replaced by the results of the recount. This approach would safeguard against possible PPP plots to subvert the recount once the declarations are discarded, and create a constitutional crisis because no legal path for the creation of government exists. However, within minutes of Mr. Alexander’s statement, Anil Nandlall exposed the PPP’s plot. He insisted that the declarations must be discarded while at the same time acknowledging that it is possible for the recount to be subverted.

Nandlall said, ” … he is hoping for some event to occur, which would, either prevent the recount from taking place or if it takes place, rendering it a nullity so that the status quo ante the recount will prevail.” This is an acknowledgment that he and the PPP know there is a real possibility the recount will not be conclusive. Knowing this and still demanding that the Regional Declarations be discarded is beyond reckless, it is unpatriotic.

In an epic rant, Nandlall resorted to many lies and half-truths, in an effort to create the cover for the PPP plot. He falsely accused Mr. Alexander of plotting to use illegal declarations. In Response, Vincent Alexander said, “Nandalall cited a number of extralegal sources to discredit the declarations, but no court has ruled these declarations are illegal. He said, “it is a matter of fact the declarations are legal, and even Nandalall, in his draft order to the commission, acknowledged the legality of the declarations.”

Alexander also dismissed Nandlall’s claim that his draft order was aimed at subterfuge. He said his order while recognizing the CARICOM initiative, did not make it the basis of the recount. Instead, it was “… pegged on the various requests for a recount that were either rejected, aborted, or held in abeyance. ” This he said, takes the recount beyond Region 4 which the PPP is focused on. In fact, Nandlall, in his draft order, attempted to inveigle a recount of Region 4 only. This was recognized and discarded.

It is clear that the PPP is not interested in a total record. Since, according to Mr. Aubrey Norton, “PPP Knows Recount will give APNU-AFC a Wider Margin.” However, with legal declarations in place, the PPP has no choice but to go ahead with the recount. If they do not, GECOM will have no choice but to swear-in President David Granger. However, if the declarations are set aside before the recount declarations are available, the PPP is likely to subvert the recount.

We could see a repeat of what happened during the Region 4 count. PPP operatives could storm the location and irrevocably contaminate the documents. With the recount compromised and no legal path to government existing, there could be anarchy.
